Sr Girls Soccer - Congratulations to the Sr Girls Soccer Team who won their 4th tournament in a row this weekend in Nakusp. Great job girls! Mt Baker Track - Congratulations to Jill Anderson, Sam Hornquist and Michelle Baines for their efforts in Trail this past weekend. They represented Mt Baker well with their great attitude during the 8 events they competed in. GRADS! - A new Grad list has been posted in the hallway outside of the office. Please check the list and see your counselor if you do NOT know why your name is missing. A FINAL Grad list will be posted on May 8th. Coaching 11/12 - Next practicum opportunities: CYSA Cranbrook Youth Soccer Coach May & June; Run a fitness station this weekend at the Children’s Festival May 10th – see Mrs Kettenacker before Thursday!!; Elementary Track Meet May 21st and 22nd. See Mrs. Kettenacker in Room 124 to sign up. Boys Rugby - Congratulations to the Sr Boys Rugby Team for their solid victory over Kimberley yesterday. Tries were scored by Owen Whales, Ryan Savage and Rob Murdoch. Excellent play by everyone. Next game Thursday, May 8th. Whoever has the #18 jersey please return it to Mr Goodwin. Golf Team - The Golf Team defeated 5 other schools in Monday’s match play. Low scores of 76 were posted by Colin Revie and Cody Boekestyn. There is a team meeting in the Career Centre during break on Tuesday. Floor Hockey - Floor hockey update! May 8th Blackhawks vs Average Joes. Game between CCM & the Green Hulls has been rescheduled for May 26th. Summer Job Opportunity - Working at Sunshine Marina on Lake Koocanusa as a Dock Hand, Mechanic Assistant or in Housekeeping. Check the Job Opportunity Board in the Counselling Office for more details. Work Experience 12 - Any Grade 11’s interested in taking Work Experience 12 next year, sign up in the Counselling office this week. See Mr. Conrad for details. E-Pal - If you are interested in becoming an e-pal with new international students please contact Mrs. Snopek or sign up in the counseling office. Scholarship Opportunity - Did you attend Jaffray School in Grade 10? If so, see Ms Tyson about a scholarship opportunity ASAP. Grad Transitions - Grads, over 2/3’s of the Grade 12 students have now completed their Grad Transition documents. Get them in if you’ve not yet done so. GRADS - Cranbrook Sound & Video, located at JUST MUSIC, will be video taping the Grad Ceremonies and the Prom. This 2 DVD set will be available to purchase for $20.00 including GST. All orders are to be emailed to cranbrooksound@shaw.ca with subject "Grad Video". Orders should be placed by July 15, 2008. You will be notified by email when the DVD's are ready for pickup at JUST MUSIC. Payment is due when DVD's are picked up. Parking - Students, please do not park in the parking lots across from the school. The offices are going to have cars towed away if they are parked there. Kootenay Children’s Festival - Student volunteers are needed for Crazy Hair Tent on May 10th at the Kootenay Children’s Festival for all day or 2 hour shifts. Interested students please see Mr. Toyota by May 6th. This will qualify towards your grad transition. Sustainable Urban Transportation -Are you interested in sustainable cities? Would you like to get involved in a sustainable transportation project or initiative but don’t know where to start? CUTA, the Canadian Urban Transportation Authority’s 2008 Youth Summit on Sustainable Urban Transportation will be held at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver from August 21 to 25, 2008. If you are interested, please go to the counseling office for more information. Grads Chance to Win $5000 - BC Press Council and Community Newspaper Association are offering a chance to win a scholarship by writing an essay on “How can community newspapers utilize their websites to better serve and engage young readers?” Please see the poster in the Counselling office for more information. VIA Rail Enviro Expo - Do you have an idea that could help solve a big environmental problem? Enter VIA Rail’s Enviro Expo for your chance to win a scholarship! Get all the details at viaenviroexpo.ca or check out the poster in the Counselling Hallway. Math Help - Math help is back on Wednesdays at 6:00 pm, in the Career Prep Room. All students are welcome. GO BLUE - Are you passionate about water conservation and the environment in your community? Are you comfortable with public speaking and have good writing skills? If so, you are invited to become one of 8 youth selected to sit on a National Committee as a GO BLUE Youth Ambassador representing your community. For more information, go to the Counselling Office. Grade 11 Merit Scholarship - The University of Lethbridge Grade 11 Merit Scholarship application is now available in the Counselling Office or online. Application deadline is June 30th.
