WILD Athletics - Rugby Reintroduction to Rugby - Professional Development Opportunity/ Gareth Rees, Technical Director of the BC Rugby Runion and long time Canadian International Rugby Player is in Cranbrook on May 9th for rugby development. This session is designed to assist community coaches and teachers at any level of play. Information gained will be a great addition to a physical education program with very little equipment required. Wednesday May 9, 2007 12:30 pm until 4:30 pm Mount Baker Oval Cost is $35 per participant contact Brenda Tyson at Mount Baker or by e-mail: btyson@shaw.ca BAKER WINS RICH WEST AWARD Our Wild Badminton team ended up 16th place at Provincials, but considering that their team is very young, composed only of athletes in grades 10 and 11, they played very well. Every player's game improved and not one player got down even though many of the tough matches ended up in a loss. There were many individual performances including Tyler and Rasmus winning both their doubles games against DP Todd from Prince George, Steve won two singles matches and Steve and Svetlana teamed to win two matches in mixed doubles and Tori and Laura won a match against Eric Hamber and one against DP Todd. The best news of all was that the Baker Wild won the Rich West award for sportmanslike play! Watch out next year! IT'S A THREE-PEAT FOR WILD BADMINTON TEAM! Mount Baker Wild’s Badminton team pulled off a big win defeating perennial favorites from Crawford Bay and new contenders Invermere to successfully win the right to represent the Kootenays at the AAA provincial high school badminton championships being held during the first week of March on the lower mainland. This was an especially big win for the Wild this year as it is definitely a rebuilding year with the majority of its athletes being grade 10 players. In addition, a welcome addition to the Baker badminton team is a small complement of international students. Congratulations to all! BAKER HOSTS PROVINCIAL PLAYDOWNS Tuesday February 13th The Den will be filled with badminton players from throughout the Kootenays competing for the right to represent the Kootenays at the AAA Provincial Badminton Championships in Richmond at the beginning of March. Teams from Fernie, Nelson, Elkford, Invermere, Crawford Bay, Kimberley and Cranbrook will take to the court for a full day of action. Good Luck to the Wild Team Members! ![]()
