Opportunities to Learn or Practice French The Summer Work / Student Exchange program is a six-week (early July to mid-August) summer employment aimed at students aged 16 and 17 who will be returning to school in September. The program covers transportation costs for participants to travel to and from their exchange destination and the costs for mandatory activities. Participants are responsible for their own personal expenses. Participants will be paid the minimum wage applicable in the province in which they are staying. The Official Languages Programs administered by the Council of Ministers of Education, Canada (CMEC) and funded by the Department of Canadian Heritage are providing Canadian students with several opportunities for study and summer work programs. Students need not be pursuing French as an area of study. These programs are intended to promote the learning of French by all Canadians. For more information click here.
