The various areas that will be touched on in this course will be: Animation program - Flash MX 2004 student movie, opening and closing credits with transitions. All with story line. History of Computers film - the Paperback Computer history of computers with specific emphasis on the history and development of the personal computer Photo & Text Manipulation program - Photoshop 4.0 text effects photo retouching / digital enhancement use of layers Programming program - Borland C++ input/output statements conditional statements (if...else) loops functions Technology Vocabulary Students will be expected to acquire a set of vocabulary related to computer technology. Terms such as: RAM, ROM, MP3, megabyte, resolution, jpeg, gif, bitmap, psd. The Internet browser - Internet Explorer history of email interactivity resources search techniques security issues Web Page Design/Construction browser - Internet Explorer and CSE Validator Lite elements of good design web page construction (several styles) uploading of site to World Wide Web Evaluation Students will be given frequent short multiple choice tests to check their understanding of technological terms, 'computer trivia' and application knowledge. Students will be assigned a number of individual projects during each section of the course to help evaluate their practical skills. This course will have a final exam that consists of a short general knowledge section and a practical section where a student will have to demonstrate his/her abilities in one of the practical areas of the course, i.e. html, programming, animation, photo/text manipulation. The final exam will account for 30% of a student's final grade. Class work will account for the rest.
